Vanilla is a perennial climbing herbacious vine. Vanilla extract is used in the manufacture of candles, soaps and perfumes.
Source: Vanilla planifolia is grown in Madagascar.
Extraction: Vanilla extract is obtained from the vanilla pod or bean.
Aroma: Vanilla extract has a rich, sweet, slightly balsamic scent.
Fragrance note: Base.
Properties: The pure oil is orange/brown. It is not an essential oil.
Vanilla extract has a reputation as a sensual aphrodisiac and is comforting and relaxing.
Uses: Massage, baths, vaporization and may be added to base emollients as a fragrance.
Blends well with: Benzoin, Bergamot, Frankincense, Jasmine, Lemon, Mandarin, Opopanax, Orange, Patchouli, Rose, Sandalwood, Vetiver, Ylang Ylang.
Caution: No known toxicity. Avoid high concentration in pregnancy. Avoid very high concentrations in skin care.
