Double Sided Ajrakh Print Silk and Woolen Embroidered Scarf - Orange Off White
This double sided scarf is a master-piece adorning hand-spun and hand woven pure wool shawl on one side and hand-block printed silk on the other side. Handmade tassels at the ends of the shawl add to the charm. Portend the elegant you in this shawl.
The hand woven pure wool shawl features a combination of traditional Suf Embroidery and Mirror work.
Suf (triangle) Embroidery is worked on from the back of the fabric and the immense detailing in the symmetrical patterns is achieved without any sketching of the designs. This traditional embroidery is a signature art of tribal community of Kutch District in Gujarat. Herringbone stitch is used to fix the mirrors to the fabric. Symmetrically aligned with the Suf Embroidery, these mirrors create sparkling effect enhancing the appeal.
Ajrakh - One of the oldest hand block printing techniques (dating back to 2500 BC) is now being practiced and preserved by artisans in Gujarat, India. Characterised by bright red and deep indigo colours, these prints incorporate jewel-like patterns which symbolise elements of nature such as stars and flowers.
This handcrafted shawl uses locally sourced wool for weaving and natural colours for hand block printing.
