Organic Bergamot Citrus Aurantium

It is Bergamot that gives Earl Grey tea its flavour, and it is a common fragrance and fixative in cosmetics, toiletries and sun tanning products.

Source: Citrus aurantium bergamia is common in Morocco, Southern Italy, Sicily and parts of Africa.

Extraction: Organic Bergamot essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the peel of ripening bitter orange fruit.

Aroma: Fresh, subtle, spicy lemon scent with warm balsamic undertones.

Properties: The aroma of Organic Bergamot essential oil is uplifting, refreshing and promotes tranquillity. It is used in aromatherapy to relieve symptoms of melancholy, tiredness and irritability. It is also antiseptic. It balances the skin, is a good deodorant and will help kill germs in the home.

Uses: Massage, baths, inhalation, vaporisation and may be added to base emollients. It may be inhaled directly from a tissue for emotional upset and negative moods. It is safe for home use if well diluted.

Blends well with: Black Pepper, Clary Sage, Frankincense, Ginger, Neroli and Sandalwood.

Caution: Organic Bergamot essential oil may irritate skin especially if subsequently exposed to sunlight.
